Abstract

Polymers represent a class of materials widely used in our routine, they are present in clothing made from synthetic fibers all the way to silicone heart valves. However, even though they are extremely important, the traditional polymerization reaction requires the use of several reagents, as well as complex, time-consuming and often toxic processes. Given this situation, photopolymerization emerged as an interesting alternative, as it does not require organic solvents, has low energy demand, occurs quickly and is economical. This reaction is triggered in the presence of light, at a certain wavelength, requiring at least two components: the photoinitiator and the monomer; The use of a co-initiator is often used to accelerate the reaction process. This project aims to synthesize and investigate the application of anthrazoline derivatives, a class of molecules with high electronic affinity and thermal stability, as potential photoinitiating agents. The main investigation of this study will be the synthesis of a photosensitive anthrazoline derivative applied as a photoinitiator in polymerization reactions, using as monomers some vegetable oil derivatives in addition to acrylated, epoxidized or vinyl monomers. Both the photoinitiators and the polymers obtained will be chemically and physically characterized by the following techniques: 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, UV-Vis, TG, DTG, TG-DTA, DSC, Photo-DSC, DMA, MIR, MEV, RPE, FRT.
