Abstract

The main aim of this scientific journalism proposal is to promote the dissemination to a broad and diverse audience of scientific concepts and results related to the project "From sand grains to mountain chains: linking recent Andean orogenesis and climate changes to the assembly of lowland Amazonia (PAALE) (grant #2022/03007-5)". To achieve this goal, digital platforms and social networks will be used to promote accessible scientific dissemination, bringing research, news, innovations and curiosities from the scientific sphere through clear language and in an interactive format that arouses the interest of the population and, especially, the young and lay public. The research, which will be the focus of the duo's broadcast, studies the connection between the Andean orogeny and climate change with the evolution of the lowlands of the Amazon. Based on the results already obtained and extra material provided by the researchers themselves, such as images taken in the field and interviews that will be carried out, together with the knowledge and strategies acquired in the courses and masterclasses offered by the schedule of the call itself, three materials will be produced in the format of video reports in an extended model, which will be published on the YouTube video platform, with an estimated time of 10 to 20 minutes each; All the videos will be interrelated and complementary to each other, explaining and simplifying concepts, highlighting the reasons why the research exists, its main objectives and its relevance, as well as showing the challenges and conclusions reached throughout the process. In addition, in order to reach more people, three other videos will be produced from this initial material, in a shortened and summarized format that will be published in Reel format on the Instagram social networking platform. The shortened models will have eye-catching titles, with the aim of attracting the viewer's attention, and will last between 2 and 3 minutes each. The overall result expected from this project is to understand how to translate academic language to the general public in the best possible way, understanding strategically how to attract society's attention to science and thus arouse their curiosity and interest, transmitting relevant and quality information in a way that reaches and satisfies as many people as possible. Keywords: digital media; scientific communication, landscape evolution, geomorphology, Amazonia.
