Abstract

It is undeniable the changes that occurred in the field of mental health in the post Psychiatric Reform, movement that restructured patient care since 2001. Together with the users of the outpatient mental health service working in their daily lives, patients and professionals of CAPS, this research project aims to describe the different experiences of different subjects with psychiatric institutions, in addition to understanding the implications of the Psychiatric Reform in the Centro de Atenção Psicossocial (Psychosocial Care Center). This research is based on a qualitative investigation of ethnographic inspiration, with use of observations and field diary, as well as interviews. From a brief preliminary bibliographical research emerges the importance of the Reform in Brazil and the relevance of the creation of CAPS as an alternative to Psychiatric Hospitals. Therefore, the main justification of this project lies in the possibility of recording the experiences of individuals in the daily life of the institution and, with this, trace the impacts of the Reform in the current care provided to the patient in the mental health context.
