Abstract

Luminescent materials have been present in people's daily lives for decades, from television screens to lighting devices. Their applications have expanded and can even be used today as temperature and pressure sensors. Inorganic matrices, especially silicates, have high thermal stability and chemical stability, giving these materials the ability to function in environments in which materials based on organic compounds are decomposed. Completing the study carried out during Undergraduate Research (FAPESP Proc. nº 2023/04576-6), we propose the study of the host matrix, Ca2MgSi2O7, with a structure called akermanite, doped with Mn2+, Eu3+ and Eu2+ and co-doped with Mn2+ and Eu2+ and with Eu3+ and Eu2+. We will evaluate its application as a ratiometric luminescent thermometer with the emission bands in the red region of the Ca2MgSi2O7:Mn2+ material. Materials doped with Eu2+, when substituted in the square antiprism site of Ca2+, are expected to emit green, so that, together with the red emissions from Mn2+ or Eu3+ and blue from an InGaN LED chip, obtain a prototype of warm white light.
