Abstract

Heart failure is a complex syndrome characterized by chronic progression with decompensations that often require hospital admission. Studies in specialized cardiology units are relatively frequent, but more is needed about the care offered to people with heart failure in general hospitals. Understanding the prevalence of human responses in people hospitalized for heart failure is necessary to guide safe and quality care and support clinical reasoning and critical nursing thinking in this context. This project aims to describe the prevalence of nursing diagnoses identified upon admission of patients with heart failure at the University Hospital of the University of São Paulo - HU-USP. It is a quantitative descriptive study of secondary data analysis. The sample will be the health records of all adult patients admitted to HU_USP due to heart failure decompensation from June to November 2022. Data on patients' social characteristics and their nursing diagnoses documented on admission will be collected from their health records. The data will be analyzed in absolute and relative frequencies and, when appropriate, by measures of central tendency.
