Abstract

With the changes in the demographic profile and the ongoing process of population aging in Brazil, there is a significant increase in the elderly population and a growing prevalence of chronic diseases in this group. Due to this shift, the use of the Multidimensional Assessment of Elderly Health (AMD) and the articulation of the Health Care Network (RAS) to adequately meet the needs of the elderly have emerged. The proposed study aims to analyze the barriers and facilitators that influence Primary Health Care (PHC) professionals in the implementation of AMD, with the goal of identifying the support and training needs of professionals, as well as evaluating current implementation practices and coordination in PHC. The research method adopted is observational, longitudinal, and uses a quantitative-qualitative approach, involving the application of a questionnaire with 30 questions. The study will be conducted in healthcare units in the municipality of São Carlos, with the participation of healthcare managers and professionals, and will adhere to necessary ethical criteria. The statistical analysis of the collected data will be divided between (P) professionals and (M) managers for intergroup comparison. It is expected that the results obtained will provide evidence of the barriers and facilitators faced by PHC professionals in the implementation of AMD, as well as in the intersectoral coordination process, thus contributing to the improvement of public policies and care services for the elderly.
