Abstract

Introduction: Pediatric pain treatment is essential and must be carried out appropriately and holistically. Therefore, it is important to understand which strategies are known for managing pediatric pain, considering that this care is still neglected in teaching and care. The scientific initiation project presented is part of a multicenter study led by the University of Castilla-La Mancha, so a team of researchers from Brazil took on the task of organizing the study at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). Objectives: to the understanding of medical, nursing and physiotherapy professionals and students regarding non-drug treatments for pain management in children. Methods: Interviews will be carried out with professors and professionals in medicine, nursing, and physiotherapy at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and the UFSCar University Hospital who work with children aged 0 to 18 years. Students from the Medicine, Nursing, and Physiotherapy courses at UFSCar will also be interviewed. Expected results: understand how health professionals master the use of non-pharmacological practices in pediatric pain management, which will allow identifying possible gaps in the understanding and approach to pain management. Furthermore, it will be possible to more clearly define how this topic is being addressed throughout the course in order to understand how students are learning such topics. The results will be published in scientific journals and at renowned health conferences.
