Abstract

Abstract: The role of physical therapy in obstetrics includes preparation for childbirth, assistance during labor and postpartum. Despite advances in physical therapy for women's health in obstetrics, it is believed that women's knowledge about the benefits of physiotherapeutic intervention throughout the entire pregnancy and postpartum cycle is limited. Objective: To evaluate the knowledge of Brazilian women regarding the role of physical therapists in obstetrics. Based on this information, the aim is to increase the dissemination and awareness of physical therapy in obstetrics and its benefits. Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, conducted through online data collection, with women from all over Brazil. The study will include women over 18 years old, who are literate and have internet access. The questionnaire will cover socioeconomic and demographic information, obstetric and gynecological history, as well as questions about these women's general and specific knowledge regarding the pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum periods, and the role of physical therapy. A descriptive analysis of the data will be performed using simple frequencies, mean, and standard deviation of the quantitative data.
