Abstract

The project aims to investigate the metal-insulator transition (MIT) in the particle-hole asymmetric Hubbard model. The study revisits this interesting problem by focusing on the behavior of the chemical potential at the critical point of the Mott transition and by employing methods such as exact diagonalization and the Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG). Special attention is given to the relationship between the onsite energy and the chemical potential, with insights drawn from the literature. The scientific goals include introducing the student to key concepts in strongly correlated systems, acquiring proficiency in computational methods, and preparing for further academic pursuits. Overall, this project seeks to deepen our understanding of the Mott transition and provide valuable training for the student's future research endeavors.
