Abstract

N-nitrosamines are compounds that can be found in drinking water, pesticides, pharmaceutical products, food, and tobacco smoke, which has attracted the attention of the "Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária - Brasil" and international regulatory agencies. The carcinogenicity of N-nitrosamines has been well established after recurrent exposure, but few studies have examined their adverse effects on the reproductive health of various species. In this sense, data on adverse effects resulting from exposure to low doses of nitrosamines on a multigenerational scale are insufficient. Therefore, in this study a multigenerational study will be carried out, through the evaluation of the F2 generation (MF2) of the maternal line (MF1 - female F1 offspring) whose F0 generation was exposed to nitrosodimethylamine (7.2 ng/kg p.o. - one of the most common nitrosamines ) from the preconception period to the end of lactation. The F2 offspring will be evaluated in relation to parameters of initial sexual development, onset of puberty and histological parameters of reproductive organs in adult life.
