Abstract

Phosphorus (P) has low availability in the soil and affects plant growth. In addition, it is highly fixed in the soil by oxides and has low mobility. The aim of this project is therefore to evaluate the application of controlled-release P hydrogels to corn crops using radioisotopes (33P) to determine the fate of the nutrient in the soil-plant system and its use. The first experiment will be carried out at FCA/UNESP and the second, involving the determination and evaluation of 33P, will be carried out at Bangor University, UK.
