Abstract

The present study aims to evaluate the effects of administering domperidone and oxytocin, used alone or in association, as galactogogues in bitches with hypogalactia; evaluate the volume and quality of mother's milk and the transfer of passive immunity to the neonates. Females from 2 to 6 years of age who present hypogalactia after cesarean delivery will be selected. Females and neonates will constitute 4 experimental groups: Domperidone Group, Oxytocin Group, Domperidone + Oxytocin Group and Control Group. The following analyzes will be carried out over 21 days: measurement of serum concentrations of prolactin, oxytocin and proteins in the mothers, evaluation of daily weight gain and measurement of serum concentrations of proteins, FA, GGT and immunoglobulin G in neonates and evaluation of the volume and quality of colostrum and milk.
