Abstract

Introduction: Adolescents with myelomeningocele have neurogenic bladder dysfunction and clean intermittent bladder catheterization is indicated. However, at this stage of life, they experience social constraints due to the need to undergo this procedure, which is still unknown to a large part of society. This can make it difficult for them to integrate into social life, with a negative impact on their self-esteem and significant changes to their daily routine. In this way, learning about this procedure becomes a challenge for adolescents to take a leading role in their health care, with more autonomy. The aim is to produce a health education video on the practice of intermittent bladder self-catheterization, to be used in teaching adolescents with myelomeningocele and neurogenic bladder. Objective: to produce an educational health technology on bladder self-catheterization for adolescents with myelomeningocele and neurogenic bladder. Method: methodological study to develop audiovisual educational technology in health, guided by the framework of the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning and the methodological framework based on Kindem and Musburger, consisting of pre-production, production and post-production. As this is a scientific initiation study, the pre-production phase of the video will be conducted in this project, the pre-production phase of the video will be carried out, comprising the construction of the storyline and the script, based on a literature review and field research with a qualitative approach, in order to identify adolescents' information needs about intermittent bladder self-catheterization. Afterwards, the script and the construction of the scenes of the script (storyboard) will be produced so that later, in another study, the production and post-production phases can be carried out. It is hoped that this study will lead to the production of an educational video to help adolescents with myelomeningocele and neurogenic bladder to acquire autonomy in their health care.
