Abstract

Currently, due to climate change, we have seen extreme situations happening in several countries around the world. These situations fall into long-lasting droughts and periods of intense rain and floods well above average. In these cases, the losses are incalculable for people and government entities. In this context, there are impacts on water security, since it is difficult to guarantee water in quantity and quality for living beings and for people and companies to carry out their productive activities. Therefore, monitoring water security in times of climate crisis is essential. For this monitoring, it is important to use Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Therefore, based on a project in partnership with the Hydrographic Basin Agency of the Piracicaba, Capivari and Jundiai PCJ rivers, this research project aims to gather documentary, academic and technical information, systematize it and submit it to the screening of experts with the purpose of preparing a document with ICT specifications that are already used or have potential for use in the task of automated water security monitoring. Methodologically, the research is of an applied, exploratory and descriptive nature whose study data, of a qualitative nature, will be obtained by applying the technique of systematic literature review on academic bases and documentary research in technical literature and consultation with experts. As a result, it is expected to identify and understand the ICTs with the potential to contribute to the monitoring of water security, for each water security indicator foreseen in the study, detail the calculation formula with the information that must be collected, where they are found and how they can be be obtained through ICT and generate a document with ICT specifications already used or with potential for use in monitoring water security.
