Abstract Bioelectronics, biosensors, and Chemical sensors are closely connected in exploring and applying the interaction between biological systems and electronic devices. Together, these fields advance the ability to monitor and understand biological and chemical processes with precision and efficiency, resulting in significant medical diagnostics and biotechnology innovations. This project aims to develop (bio)sensor and bioelectronic devices to achieve direct interfacing with biological systems. We will use electrolyte-gated transistors (EGTs) to detect species of interest in biological systems, such as metal ions and molecules in complex matrices and in the presence of potential interferents. To achieve this, we will employ strategies for functionalizing the device surface with supramolecular chemical receptors to bioreceptors that exhibit intrinsic selectivity to the target species. The devices are expected to act as highly sensitive and selective transducers, capable of monitoring and understanding biological and chemical processes with precision and efficiency, leading to significant medical diagnostics and biotechnology innovations.
