Abstract

This project proposes a period of research at the Universidad Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), in Spain, at the Faculty of Humanities in Albacete, under the supervision of Professor Francisco García González. The main objective is to deepen knowledge about theoretical and methodological debates in the field of Social History, developed at the Seminar de Historia Social de la Población (SEHISP), directed by Professor García González. Among the privileged themes of the seminar are those directly linked to the Master's project "Spiritual relationships between single mothers: female agency and social dynamics in the baptismal font (Freguesia de Nossa Senhora da Presentação/RN 1760 - 1807)" such as gender, differential relationships, family, relationship networks, social mobility and inequality and social practices. The internship at UCLM will provide the opportunity to develop theoretical-methodological discussion, relating to the use of new methodologies to analyze Ibero-American populations in the past, as well as the opportunity to discuss central issues for research linked to gender, as a guiding axis in the study about the family within the scope of Historical Demography. Topics that are being debated at SEHISP, especially the investigation into female loneliness in different contexts (rural and urban), based on the life course methodology. Therefore, the internship will contribute to the advancement of the ongoing Master's project, incorporating these debates. Finally, closer contact with researchers and seminar students will strengthen academic exchange between the Postgraduate Program in History at Unicamp and the Department of History at UCLM.
