Abstract

Introduction: The rate of cesarean sections in Brazil is one of the highest in the world, and has been increasing in recent years, which includes cases of cesarean section on request after 39 weeks of gestation by the woman.  Objective: To understand the experience of women who underwent a cesarean section on request through the Theory of Social Representations. Method: This will be an exploratory-descriptive study with a qualitative approach, using the Theory of Social Representations (TRS) as a theoretical framework. The sample will be for convenience, women attending the puerperal review outpatient clinic of a public health institution will be interviewed, and who have undergone a cesarean section upon request, using an instrument with pre-prepared questions.   The project will be submitted to the Research Committee and the local Research Ethics Committee. For the results, centers will be created and categories will be constructed for thematic analysis of the experiences lived by women who went through this process.
