Abstract

To evaluate the effectiveness of the association of a form of neoadjuvant therapy in the preoperative and postoperative period in unilateral radical mastectomy procedures in dogs, the technique of autohemotherapy (AHT) is applied. In which the administration of autologous blood intramuscularly is proposed, with the objective of organic stimulation of the patient's immune system, especially the Mononuclear phagocyte system, increasing the percentage of macrophages throughout the organism. Consequently, aiming at the potential in quality and reduction of healing time; reformulation of the established antibiotic therapy; and, possible reduction in the recurrence of neoplastic masses. Finally, it is expected that AHT can be associated with surgical procedures as a substitutive alternative to antibiotic therapy protocols, combined with prolonging the survival of animals with oncological diseases.
