Abstract

Gastrin's function is to stimulate the multiplication of parietal cells and secretion of hydrochloric acid, being a specific biochemical element of changes in the true stomach of cattle. The measurement of serum gastrin is performed by radioimmunoassay, comprising the two gastrins (G17 and G34), and excluding cholecystokinin (CCK) - being used mainly as a specific test for abomasal ulcers, with differential diagnoses of intestinal ulcers and hemorrhagic enteritis. At the moment, there is a lack of work that indicates the efficiency of the laboratory test in relation to the sample storage time at an appropriate time (-70ºC).
