Abstract

Introduction: For patients with health chronicities, such as urinary and intestinal disorders, the approach to the topic of health advocacy is essential, as it is based on the fundamental precepts of valuing patients' rights, guiding them in decision-making and assisting them in response to their health needs. It is an intrinsic ethical component of Nursing work and is strongly linked to the daily practice of nurses. Aim: To identify the perception of nurses in the hospital context about health advocacy related to individuals with urinary and intestinal disorders in a city in the interior of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. Method: Cross-sectional, descriptive-exploratory study, with a quantitative-qualitative approach, to be carried out in two hospital institutions using a convenience sample. Nurses will be included, working professionally in the respective institutions and who are available and interested in responding online to the instruments sent. For data collection, a questionnaire will be used to characterize the participants and their respective clientele and a scale called Protective Nursing Advocacy Scale (PNAS), Brazilian version. The data will be analyzed according to a quantitative approach using descriptive and analytical statistics of the variables and a qualitative approach using content analysis. The results will be analyzed through a literature review and presented in the form of articles and abstracts at scientific events.
