Abstract

Among the new industrial automation and control trends, Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems (ICPSs) stand out with the promise to revolutionize large-scale industrial plants by enabling high-velocity acquisition and high-efficiency analysis of large amounts of data. ICPSs are feedback control systems built upon applying information and communication technologies (ICT) to industrial environments and can be regarded as the next generation of industrial control systems (ICSs). This work aims to develop a methodology to design a modular, scalable, interoperable ICPS capable of performing online control and monitoring. This proposal addresses the case study of the mineral grinding process. Therefore, the proposed methodology will be validated using data from the pilot plant developed at the IPT. In particular, the proposed ICPS will help perform Big data analysis, which will allow pattern recognition tasks and model predictions that will help understand the behavior of the plant. The methodology consists of analyzing the process and instrumentation, ICPS architecture design, data acquisition and analysis, AI-based algorithm design, and ICPS Evaluation. The work is proposed to be published in journals of high international prestige and impact factors to disseminate and evaluate the work carried out. The results will be also presented in workshops of the Centro de Pesquisa Aplicada em Inteligência Artificial para a evolução das Indústrias para o Padrão 4.0 (FAPESP 2020/09850-0).
