Abstract

The main objective of this research is to reflect on collaborative production processes in the current Latin American perspective and to verify possibilities of using the audiovisual as a political-pedagogical tool capable of transforming the reality collectively experienced by their societies. In this same direction, this investigation aims to verify the relevance of the documentary for praxis related to urban studies from a fundamentally decolonial perspective, contributing to the understanding of the idea of "Latin American city" (ROMERO, 2005 [1974]; GORELIK, 2005) by constituting a set of bibliographical and filmographic references linked to the Global South. With this purpose, the research deepens into the development of urban reading methodologies from the application of audiovisual means, formulating collective realization processes, from the scripting stage to the exhibition of films, which allow reflections on the theme. Bearing in mind the emergence of actions and projects for documentary production in several Latin American countries, mainly from the 1970s onwards, the research has as its main hypothesis the existence of a complex network of interrelations that help in the understanding of Latin America as a complex unit that, despite being made up of different experiences, allows us to bring them together in order to analyze and discuss their formation. In this sense, we will carry out this investigation in an articulated way, searching in documents, bibliographies and filmographies, as well as interviews, for evidence that allows us to think about possibilities of incorporating audiovisual methodologies into the field of urban studies. In addition to the theoretical dimension, the project proposes carrying out practical experiments in order to verify the ideas and concepts studied throughout the research. Considering principles of ecology capable of bringing together the multiple Latin American experiences, the investigation and experimentation of processes of documentary production aim to contribute to an understanding based on participation and collective action, stimulating the integration between social actors in order to consolidate a theoretical approach -practice conceived and constructed, based on the territorial characteristics of the places studied, by those who live and share the same Latin American identity.
