Abstract

Acinetobacter spp., has emerged as an pportunistic nosocomial pathogen, especially Acinetobacter baumannii, responsible for approximately 80% of epidemic infections among critically ill patients. These microorganisms are Gram-negative aerobic bacilli, hich can survive on dry surfaces for up to a month, and have a high capacity to develop resistance to antibiotics. Thus, it is extremely important to seek alternative reatments and drugs that are capable of fighting these infections. The aim of this study s to evaluate the antimicrobial effect of the hydroalcoholic extract of Ficus carica on planktonic cultures and monotypic biofilms of four clinical strains of A. baumannii and one standard ATCC (19606). The hydroalcoholic extract will be produced and the oluble solids content will be quantified. Subsequently, total phenols, and antioxidant analysis by reducing the radical 2,2'-diphenyl-1-piccrylhydrazyl (DPPH). Minimum nhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum microbicide (MMC) using the broth microdilution method (CLSI M7-A6). The biofilms will be formed in microtiter plates and ill be subjected to contact with plant extract for 24 hours followed by the viability test of bacterial cells by the MTT colorimetric method. The results will be statistically analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey's test (pd0.05)
