Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze, based on the theoretical assumptions of the Constructional Approach (Traugott, 2008; Traugott and Trousdale, 2013), in conjunction with Construction Grammar (Goldberg, 1995; 2006; Croft, 2001), the formation process of the auxiliary constructions [disparar Prep Vinf] and [passar Prep Vinf] in Brazilian Portuguese, aiming to identify the usage contexts that favor the constructional change of these expressions and the morphosyntactic, semantic (and pragmatic) motivations that operate in the development of aspectual values of inceptivity, cursivity, and iterativity. The research universe consists of texts from the Corpus do Português, organized by Davis and Ferreira (2006).
