Abstract

The nutritional status of mothers before conception and their diet during pregnancy are pivotal for the health of newborns. Variations in the availability of nutrients, oxygen, and hormones during pregnancy can impact the structural and functional development of the embryo and fetus. These variations contribute to immunological and metabolic changes that may favor adipose tissue accumulation in early life. The objective of this study is to evaluate the dietary intake of pregnant women with appropriate pre-gestational BMI and pre-gestational obesity who will be attended at the Women's Hospital "Prof. Dr. José Aristodemo Pinotti" (CAISM) during the third trimester of pregnancy in the second semester of 2024. This is a cross-sectional and prospective study that will include a sample of 20 postpartum women, whose dietary habits will be assessed through 24-hour Dietary Recalls (R24h), using the Automated Multiple Pass Method (AMPM), on three different days: one during prenatal consultation at CAISM and the other two through telephone calls. Daily averages of calories consumed and the average intake of macro and micronutrients will be calculated. The Nutrium software will be used for dietary intake analysis, with statistical analyses performed in SPSS, adopting a significance level of p <0.05.
