Abstract

Li-O2 batteries are a promising alternative to be a high energy density battery for electric vehicle, since their theoretical energy density (~ 3600 Wh/kg) is close to gasoline. There are still incipient and fundamental investigation is pivotal to understand their limitations. It is already known that the state-of-the-art Li-ion battery electrolyte is not suitable to Li-O2 battery due to their instability at high voltage operation. So many different electrolytes are proposed to be used as alternatives, nonetheless, these myriads of electrolytes come with many different solvents in the proposed formulations. These proposes normally oversee the chemical compatibility of electrodes binders and organic solvent. Since the binders are polymeric compounds, they normally show some solubility in many organic solvents. This work will evaluate the polymeric binder stability against different batteries electrolytes.
