Abstract This research proposal aims to investigate the interests, opinions and attitudes of 15-year-old students in primary and secondary schools in rural and urban areas of a location in the Brazilian South-Western Amazon regarding science and technology. For this purpose, the study considers the collaborative research experience of the Project "The Relevance of Science Education - Second (ROSES)". It is proposed to apply the Amazonian adaptation of the Brazilian version of the BARÔMETRO BRASIL "Os Jovens e a Ciência" questionnaire, to carry out comparative analyzes with data already collected in another Amazonian location, as well as with the results of previous Brazilian applications in the North region, seeking to understand the trends of the last 20 years. The research involving rural schools is unprecedented in the South-Western Amazon and will enable the inclusion of findings in national and international studies. Finally, we seek to interpret the results in light of traditional and indigenous peoples' knowledge about conservation and biodiversity. The research is predominantly quantitative in nature, as previous studies have opted for this type of approach. However, the interpretation of the results will make use of qualitative elements, especially in the section of items on myths and legends of the Amazon. | |
