Abstract

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder mainly associated with the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra Compacta (SNc), and is traditionally identified by motor symptoms such as bradykinesia, muscle discomfort, tremor at rest, difficulty in coordination and postural instability. However, today we understand that PD goes far beyond a mobility problem, including a variety of non-motor symptoms such as loss of smell, cognitive problems, psychiatric symptoms, sleep disturbances, autonomic dysfunction, pain and fatigue, in addition to non-classical symptoms as respiratory disorders. It is known that these respiratory symptoms of PD may be related to changes in the respiratory column (RC). Therefore, studies suggest that these changes may be the result of several processes, such as epigenetic changes, mitochondrial dysfunctions, environmental influences and other factors. Therefore, based on this assumption, the proposed project aims to analyze the H3K27me3 modification in CR in a model of Parkinson's disease induced by 6-OHDA, in order to better understand this situation.
