Abstract

The Supreme Court of the United States of America was the first independent superior court in history. The republican experience in America was something totally new. The 13 British colonies were the first colonies to achieve independence from an European country in America. In a world full of monarchies, the American revolutionaries did not know exactly how to build a new government that would not be a monarchy. There were many debates around this "New State" in the end of the 18th century. One of these innovations was an independent supreme court that would not be linked with the powers of a king or a parliament. but to a constitution.
