Abstract

Pediatric brain tumors predominantly occur in the posterior fossa and are often associated with obstructive hydrocephalus, which can be managed through various procedures. However, there is no consensus in the literature regarding the most efficient and safe method, highlighting the need for multicenter and prospective research in this area. Ventriculoperitoneal shunting (VPS), despite being a technically straightforward procedure that can be performed by any trained neurosurgeon, is associated with complications such as infection, peritonitis, ascites, and epidural hematoma. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a multicenter and prospective investigation of patients treated with VPS to identify the mortality rate, infection rate, and the number of VPS revision surgeries, with the goal of determining its safety for patients
