Abstract Rail transportation is fundamental for São Paulo, with trains and subways carrying 18 percent of the city's population daily. Urban economics literature has extensively studied how transportation improvements affect various markets, focusing on the concept of market access. This study aims to evaluate how the presence of a train or subway station in a specific geographical area of the municipality influences its entrepreneurship metrics (birth, longevity, existence, and closure of businesses). We will use regression models with reduced equations to establish causality. Additionally, we will conduct analyses of heterogeneity, descriptive, and geographical analyses using geocoded municipal data from São Paulo to enrich our understanding. | |
