Abstract

The development of technologies capable of safely detecting pregnancy status before day 21 post-insemination could allow for the reinsemination of cattle during the next estrous cycle, thereby improving reproductive performance and enhancing the profitability of both dairy and beef operations. A thorough understanding of the fundamental events occurring in early pregnancy is crucial for the discovery of novel biomarkers and outcomes that predict pregnancy earlier than conventional methods. This study aims to investigate the corpus luteum's response to conceptus signaling on day 20 of gestation, focusing on the characteristics of angiogenesis and antiluteolytic factors in females with low and high blood perfusion. To achieve this, we will evaluate the expression of angiogenic and antiluteolytic factors in corpus luteum samples collected postmortem from heifers on day 20 of gestation. The knowledge and innovative methods generated from this research will lay the foundation for the development of new technologies for the beef and dairy industries.
