Abstract

This research project aims to formulate and evaluate the effect of incorporating bioactive calcium fluorine phosphate (FC) particles and biomimetic analogues (AB) in experimental adhesives on preservation of the dentin-adhesive interface of direct restorations and the anticaries potential that promote interfacial remineralization of the demineralized dentin by acids. Four experimental adhesives will be formulated containing beta tricalcium phosphate (² -TCP) and monocalcium phosphate monohydrate (MCPM) loading particles and incorporated increasing concentrations of FC: 1- one containing no calcium phosphate particles (Negative Control), 2- 5% F by weight, 3- 10% F by weight and 4- 20% F by weight. Another Control will consist of using a commercial three-steps conventional adhesives (acid etching, primer and bonding resin). The experimental adhesives and Controls will be applied to sound or caries affected dentin, and the evaluations will be performed in short- and long-term. The following methods will used in this study: identification of chemical elements of particles added to adhesives by EDX (n = 5), evaluation of bond strength to sound and "caries-affected" dentin (n = 10), dentin-adhesive bond morphology (n = 5), caries formation around composite restoration (n = 8), analysis of micropermeability and mineral precipitation in dentinal collagen network with confocal microscope (n = 5), identifying the bioremineralization of the collagen matrix and the conversion degree of adhesive in the bonded area (n = 5), and evaluate the fluoride release from the experimental adhesive (n = 10). Descriptive and quantitative analyzes will be carried out, which will be submitted to analysis of variance and complementary tests to identify differences among the experimental groups and the Controls (± = 0.05).
