Abstract This work plan addresses the relevance of aluminum alloys 5052 and 6061 in the automotive, naval, and aeronautic industries due to their favorable mechanical properties. It highlights the challenges of conventional welding methods for aluminum alloys due to their differing thermomechanical properties and physicochemical characteristics. Friction stir welding (FSW) is presented as an interesting alternative, enabling effective joining of different alloys. The proposed research aims to investigate the corrosion resistance of 5052-H32 and 6061-T6 aluminum alloys welded by the FSW method. The methodology includes microstructural characterization, evaluation of galvanic coupling, and monitoring of corrosion development using electrochemical techniques. The importance of this research for the automotive, naval, and aerospace industries is highlighted, emphasizing the use of welded aluminum alloys for greater economy, efficiency, and sustainability of vehicles. | |
