Abstract

The tomography of the Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) is a very promising tool to study the properties of this medium. In particular, jets of heavy quarks must be very sensitive to the medium properties once these particles are expected to be produced in very early stages of heavy ion collisions and survive through the entire existence of the QGP in these collisions. The goal of this project is to study jets originated from heavy quarks within the ALICE experiment, through open and quarkonia states, using mainly electrons as the measured probe. The usage of machine learning techniques to identify quenched jets , that will be tagged as heavy flavor jets using electrons, should be a novelty in the ALICE collaboration and contribute with the study of the QGP in relativistic heavy ion collisions.
