Abstract

This project for a Research Internship Abroad aims to complement my PhD research entitled "Adultery and subaltern agency in the Roman Empire: a study on the Satyricon of Petronius and The Metamorphoses of Apuleius (1st and 2nd centuries AD)", which is being developed under a scholarship granted by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) at the University of São Paulo. This Research Internship Abroad is programmed to be developed during the period of 12 months (from 01/04/2025 to 31/03/2026), under the supervision of Professor Cyril Courrier (Centre Camille Julien/Aix Marseille Université). The activities planned for the internship will focus on carrying out research at the Bibliothèque d'Antiquités d'Aix and other French libraries which will be visited; on having the research supervised by an international leading scholar in the field of Ancient History, especially on subalternity and history from below; and on exchanging research experience in an international academic environment by taking part in conferences, seminars, visits to museums and other activities which can contribute to a more integrated dialogue with the works being carried out internationally.
