Abstract

Molecular aggregates are formed from the non-covalent bond between molecules. A particular case are organic dyes, which, depending on the relative orientation between orbitals of different molecules, can form H or J aggregates. The case of J-type aggregates is interesting for optical applications, as they have excitons delocalized between the molecules with strong interaction with the light, characterized by a strong resonance and low width. Recently, J-aggregate thin films have been synthesized. This BEPE project deals with the theoretical study of one- and two-dimensional J-aggregates, to be carried out at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, focusing on optical properties, including the calculation of linear optical conductivity, surface and microcavity polaritons, and superradiance.
