Abstract

Introduction: Understanding students' learning styles in medical school is essential to improving educational strategies and ensuring effective medical training. The exhaustive curriculum demands effective teaching methods that are adaptable to students' individual preferences, promoting greater engagement and knowledge retention. In this sense, the identification of these educational preferences enriches students' pedagogical experience, as it contributes to a more complete and satisfactory education for undergraduates, in addition to benefiting and strengthening academic knowledge in Brazil. In particular, it is important to know the profile of internship students, as they are in the final phase of their medical course and preparing for the job market, in order to assist them in all matters of medical assistance to their families. future patients. Objectives: To evaluate the learning styles of undergraduate medical internship students at the Faculty of Medicine of Jundiaí, with the aim of identifying the study style of these students in the final phase of their medical course and how these learning styles could influence their performance school and also in their preparation for professional medical practice through the world of work. Method: In this study, the learning styles of 5th and 6th year students at the Faculty of Medicine of Jundiaí will be evaluated. For this purpose, the EdA (Learning Styles 1.0) application will be used, which includes 44 questions from the questionnaire known as Felder-Soloman's Index of Learning Styles (ILS) for the assessment of learning style indices characterized as sensory/intuitive, visual/ verbal, active/reflective, sequential/global. In this way, the EdA program is an innovative and very interesting tool as it provides the results of the student's profile right after the participant answers the questionnaire. Therefore, this study will evaluate the profile of boarding school students in the categories of perception (sensory/intuitive: how the individual responds to the teaching environment), input (visual/verbal: how information is received), processing (active/reflective ) and understanding (sequential/global: how information is processed). The information acquired about the learning style will be compared with the academic performance of these students in the boarding school subjects in order to determine the impact that the learning style may have on academic performance and whether there is any subject during this period that requires special attention in comparison. with the current profile of boarding school students. The data obtained will be subjected to a non-parametric statistical analysis for data analysis, considering the significance index p<0.05. Expected result: With this information, there will be support for the medical faculty to develop new pedagogical strategies for internship students, directly impacting the teaching, learning and medical training of these students in the final phase of the medical course.
