Abstract

Glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain cancer, remains a significant challenge due to its high mortality rate. Despite advancements in treatment, the median survival for patients remains limited. Recent research has focused on the role of copper in cancer development. Copper is essential for various cellular processes, but its dysregulation can contribute to tumor growth and metastasis. Targeting copper metabolism has emerged as a potential therapeutic strategy. Brain organoids, 3D models of the brain, offer a valuable tool for studying glioblastoma. The organoids can be genetically engineered to mimic tumor characteristics and provide a more relevant platform for drug testing. This research aims to investigate the effects of copper complexes on glioblastoma organoids. By combining copper-based therapies with traditional treatments like temozolomide (TMZ), it is aimed to improve therapeutic outcomes. The study will involve generating brain organoids, transforming them into glioblastoma models, and evaluating the impact of copper complexes on tumor growth and survival. The goal is to identify potential synergistic effects between copper complexes and TMZ, enhancing treatment efficacy.
