Abstract

Introduction: Pain evaluation and management are essential to care of quality. In practice, many times this management is not performed, and children have negative experiences regarding painful procedures performed during hospital admission. This study aims to apply training about pain assessment and management in the pediatric ward of Hospital Universitário da UFSCar, which includes pain assessment by a pain scale, a pharmacological approach, a non-pharmacological approach and, when appropriate, the use of therapeutic toy and measure adherence to these recommendations. Objective: To evaluate the effect of pain management training applied to the multi-professional team of a pediatric ward. Methods: A cross-sectional study with non-participating observation, after the implementation of training about pain management in the HU-UFSCar pediatric ward. Data collection will be performed in person, using a REDCap questionnaire filled by the researcher. The sample will be non-probabilistic. Data will be analyzed using Stata version 18.0. Expected results: It is expected to contribute to better clinical practices regarding painful procedures in pediatrics, with pain assessment and strategies to provide analgesia during these procedures.
