Abstract

Women's football has become popular all over the world. In Brazil, in recent years, it has been no different. However, the body of scientific knowledge on this subject has not evolved at the same speed as its popularization. The lack of studies on women's football is a crucial issue, as it naturally becomes an obstacle to the full development of the sport. The scientific knowledge currently used in football comes from studies on men's football. Therefore, studies with the female population, in genuine scenarios of action, are urgently needed. This study aims to identify the variations in playing style in the teams participating in the 2023 Women's World Cup and their association with success or failure. Studies like this are essential to accelerate the advancement of the understanding of tactical shortcuts in women's football, which lead to victory and to explain how defined tactical strategies can improve physical training plans and the enhancement of the intricate relationship between tactical training and physical conditioning in women's football. This will be an observational and exploratory study of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023. Data for all matches were made available by FIFA. Data were collected by FIFA using a multi-camera optical tracking system (TRACAB Gen5, ChyronHego). All matches will be extracted from the FIFA website and analyzed according to the methodology described in the main document of this proposal.
