Abstract

Currently, tilapia reproduction is carried out naturally, where breeders arekept in the same environment, reproduce, and the eggs are collected from the females'mouths and then sent for incubation. However, researchers have been seeking inducedreproduction, aiming to control the embryo development time for biotechnologyapplications, but with limited success, as it is not a conventional practice. In this sense, the present study aims to perform the assisted reproduction of Nile tilapia usingdifferent hormonal inducers A total of 20 mature males and 20 mature females will beselected and distributed in a completely randomized experimental design, with fourtreatments and five replicates. The treatments include: carp pituitary extract (CPE - 5.5mg/kg), sGnRHa+domperidone (Ovaprim® - 0.5 mL/kg), mGnRHa+metoclopramide(Ovopel® - 0.5 pellet/kg), and a control group with physiological saline (NaCl 0.9% -0.5 mL/kg), applied intramuscularly at the base of the pectoral fin. After induction, thefish will be kept in 50L boxes (one pair per box) until the beginning of spontaneousspawning, after which they will be restrained and the gametes will be collectedmanually by abdominal massage. The semen will be analyzed for concentration, motility, speed and morphology, and the oocytes fertilized with semen from males of thesame treatment and incubated for seven days. The fertilization, hatching and larvalmorphology rates will be evaluated. The data will be subjected to analysis of variance(ANOVA) followed by a posteriori tests to compare means between treatments.
