Abstract

This scientific initiation project aims to analyze the political discourse of agribusiness and its impacts on the brazilian public agenda, particularly in the context of land issues and rural development policies, given the hegemony of this model concerning agriculture and the growing political involvement of its representatives. The specific objectives of the research are to identify the discourses of key agribusiness representatives, especially members of the Frente Parlamentar da Agropecuária (FPA), compare their statements with their political agendas regarding rural development, and, using the marxian concept of ideology, discuss the scope and capacity of agribusiness to ensure and extend its interests into other areas of society. The research will employ methods such as document analysis and discourse analysis, applied within a dialectical materialist framework to understand the dynamics of social phenomena. The study is relevant for identifying how and to what extent agribusiness, after years of hegemony in the Brazilian countryside, has become capable of influencing national political decisions and gaining public support, despite its contradictions.
