Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the meanings that users ascribe to CAPS AD. This research will be carried out through a bibliographical review, looking for convergences between the points raised, and an autobiographical narrative interview in which CAPS AD users will be invited to tell their stories, with the aim of highlighting the intersections between the themes explored through concrete cases. It is necessary to reflect on the meanings that CAPS AD has for its users, as it is the main tool of the national mental health policy, so it must be up to date with contemporary demands. At the same time, it is important to bear in mind that the treatment of alcohol and other drug users has only recently been considered as a health issue, so there is still much to be developed. Another important consideration is the importance and capacity of CAPS AD to meet the needs of its users. It is important to highlight the lack of intersectoral articulation that this service has with other psychosocial facilities, so it is essential to understand the performance of this team in the daily life of this population.
