Abstract Introduction: "Fake News" refers to one or more misleading information disseminated to a group of people, through social media, with the objective of manipulating public opinion and misinforming the population about a specific topic. "Arts-Based Knowledge Translation" (ABKT) is a strategy that uses multiple art genres of awareness, communication, to translate the knowledge and offers alternative ways of producing research, promoting education, and changing behaviors. Objective: The main objective of this review is to map the Arts-Based Knowledge Translation (ABTK) strategies that have been used in health science with the purpose of countering misinformation. Methods: The review will be conducted in accordance with the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology for scoping reviews. Search strategies will be created and adapted for the following electronic health databases: Embase; Medline; LILACS; CENTRAL, Academic Search Complete; Scopus; CINAHL; Google Scholar; Applied Social Sciences Index; Abstracts, Art, and Architecture Source; Communication and Mass Media Complete; ERIC, PsycINFO and Web of Science. In this study, no language or year restrictions will be considered. Study selection, screening, and data extraction will be performed by two independent reviewers. Data will be analyzed descriptively and presented in tables. We will include studies that used ABKT concepts as strategies to translate knowledge and research, making it more accessible to the majority of people, and thereby combating misinformation. We will exclude studies that used other strategies than arts to deal with fake news. Review registration: Open Science Framework. Conclusion: The main expected outcome of this review is to map the Arts-Based Knowledge Translation strategies (ABKT) that have been used in the health field to combat misinformation, making information more accessible to the non-academic public. | |
