Abstract

Introduction: Provisional restorations must meet biological, mechanical, protective, and aesthetic requirements, which may need to function for long periods of time. Therefore, they should be fabricated with materials that offer good adaptation to the preparation, high mechanical strength, and require an efficient cementing agent, promoting durability of adhesion and periodontal health . Objective: To evaluate, in vitro, the influence of the type of resin for provisional restorations, aged or not, and surface pretreatments on the bond strength of these resins with a dual-cure resin cement. Methods: Specimens made of different resins will be used: bis-acrylic, for additive manufacturing, and for subtractive manufacturing. These specimens will undergo various surface treatments (no treatment (control), aluminum oxide sandblasting, sandblasting + silane, silanization, sandblasting + universal adhesive, universal adhesive), and will be evaluated for surface roughness. Subsequently, microcylinders of resin cement will be fabricated on the specimens. Half of the specimens will undergo microshear bond strength testing after 24 hours, and the other half after 12 months of storage in distilled water. They will then be qualitatively evaluated using SEM for fracture pattern and surface morphology. The data will be tabulated, and differences in their parameters will be analyzed using OriginPro software, adopting a significance level of 5%.
