Abstract

This proposal aims to enhance the communication of scientific discoveries from the Center for Carbon Research in Tropical Agriculture of University of São Paulo (CCARBON/USP) to the lay public. The center is based at the 'Luiz de Queiroz' College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP), under the general direction of Carlos Eduardo Pellegrino Cerri, a faculty member of the ESALQ/USP Department of Soil Science. It is linked to the Rectory of USP and receives financial support from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). It originated from the Research, Dissemination, and Innovation Centers Program (CEPID) of FAPESP (Process # 2021/10573-4). The center has been engaged since 2023 in actions for mitigating and adapting to climate change in tropical agriculture. The primary objective is to develop and implement a series of digital scientific journalism initiatives led by MSc. Mariana Pezzatte Pollo. This project will focus on the dissemination of technology through webinars, podcasts, and online panels, including the production of 12 podcasts annually, released monthly on digital platforms, featuring discussions on practical actions, research, and innovation. Additionally, webinars and online panels will be conducted with presenters from the CCARBON/USP team and invited agribusiness experts to address topics relevant to society and the academic community. The activities are planned for one year, divided into two six-month phases. The supervisor responsible for the beneficiary proposer is Prof. Dr. Tiago Osório Ferreira, a faculty member of the Soil Department and director of dissemination at CCARBON/USP
