Abstract

Introduction: Asthma is a chronic disease characterized by an inflammatory obstructive disorder of the airways and a history of respiratory symptoms (wheezing, dyspnea, chest tightness, and coughing) that requires good self-management by individuals and monitoring by healthcare professionals. Objective: to develop a mobile application (INSPIRAR) that assists healthcare professionals in monitoring the clinical conditions of people with asthma and to evaluate its usability by patients and healthcare professionals. Methods: The usability of INSPIRAR will be evaluated by patients with moderate to severe asthma in outpatient care at a third-party hospital and by specialized healthcare professionals with experience in asthma patients. The usability test of the front end (the part of the App where the user has access to the application) with asthma patients will be evaluated in meetings with a one-week interval. Meetings will be held with healthcare professionals to evaluate the front and back end (the part of the App where patient data is stored). Afterwards, clinical validation of the application will be performed. The application is being developed through a partnership between FMUSP, EPUSP and FAU-USP. As a technological tool, the application is constantly being improved.
