Abstract

The aim of this work is to identify galaxies in the merger stage and study one of the most important scaling relations for spiral galaxies: the Tully-Fisher relation. The research will be carried out through two main approaches: (1) image analysis using the astromorphlib package (Jimenez & Krabbe 2022) on a sample with velocities and masses already studied in the literature and also obtained by us using Kinemetry (Krajnovic et al. 2006); and (2) application of machine and deep learning techniques using (but not limited to) GalaxyZoo data to expand the merger sample for future studies.
