Abstract

This Scientific Initiation project aims to deepen the study of the Christian catacomb of Marcellin and Peter, located in Rome, Italy, based on the analysis of the iconography, architecture, material culture and burials present there. Therefore, this research will seek to understand who were the Christians who built and were buried in the Catacomb of Marcellin and Peter, what were their religious practices, their beliefs, and what was the relationship of this community with the other Christian communities in Rome, as well as their relationship with the so-called "pagans" and the Roman authorities of the time. Finally, based on the data collected, a dossier will be produced about the Catacomb, which will be made available in full and then inserted into the Digital Library of Intellectual Production of the University of São Paulo (BDPI), the repository of USP productions.
